Giants 6  Bruins 2

The Vancouver Giants scored four goals in the first 15 minutes of the game en route to a 6-2 win over the Chilliwack Bruins in Chilliwack Friday night. James Henry scored twice and Chris Cloud and Casey Pierro-Zabotel added singles pacing the Giants to a 4-0 lead after the first period of play. The Giants outshot the Bruins 19-3 in the period.

 

The Bruins made a game of it in the second period, cutting the lead in half with goals by Dylan Chapman and Evan Pighin, but a late goal in the second period from Spencer Macachek gave the Giants a 5-2 lead aftery forty minutes.

Michal Repik scored the loan goal of the third period to round out the scoring.

The Giants outshot the Bruins 46-15. Matt Esposito went the distance in goal for Chilliwack. Tyson Sexsmith earned the victory for Vancouver.

Vancouver was 1/4 on the power play. The Bruins went 0/3.

The Bruins remain in eighth spot in the Western Conference, two points back of the seventh place Kamloops Blazers.

The Bruins next action is Saturday night when they host the Kelowna Rockets. Check back here for a full game preview Saturday morning.

Ice Chips: Rookie forwards Blair Wentworth and Chris Collins made their Western Hockey League debuts with the Bruins tonight. Both players were selected by the Bruins in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft...not in the lineup for Chilliwack tonight were Matt Meropoulis (hand), Cody Smuk (shoulder), Mike Proudley (flu) and Scott Ramsay (flu).
